December 2015

- Two university lecturer positions advertised, one in Literature towards Teacher's training and one in Rhetoric. Last date of application for both is February 1, 2016.

- The workshop "The Dynamics and Contexts of Cultural Transfers" was held at the department on the 3rd and 4th of December. The workshop is a joint venture between the universities in Ghent, Groningen, Göttingen and Uppsala. Read more ...

November 2015

- New book article by Sigrid Schottenius Cullhed published: "Reading Textual Patchwork", in Weben und Gewebe in der Antike / Texts and Textiles in the Ancient World.

- A second edition of the book Psychagogia - konsten att leda själar by Mats Rosengren is issued.

- Professor Emeritus Conny Svensson presents his book on Florence at Uppsala City Library on December 1st. Read more (in Swedish).

- New book published: Rethinking National Literatures and the Literary Canon in Scandinavia. Ann-Sofie Lönngren is co-editor.

- The book Kladd, utkast avskrift. Studier av litterära tillkomstprocesseris presented at Carolina Rediviva on Tuesday, November 17, at 16.30. Editors are Paula Henrikson and Jon Viklund.

October 2015

- New article by Jerry Määttä published in Culture Unbound: "Keeping Count of the End of the World: A Statistical Analysis of the Historiography, Canonisation, and Historical Fluctuations of Anglophone Apocalyptic and Post-Apocalyptic Disaster Narratives”.

- New article by Jerry Määttä published in Aftonbladet: "Biten av zombier. Därför invaderar de levande döda populärkulturen".

- New article by Mattias Pirholt published in Germanisch-Romanische Monatsschrift 65 (2015), s. 149-163: "Am Rande der Kunst. Arabeske, Ornament und die Heteronomie der Ästhetik Goethes".

- The research node "Eighteenth Century Sweden in an International Perspective" has published the anthology Traces of Transnational Relations in the Eighteenth Century. The anthology includes contributions by several of the department's master students and is edited by Tim Berndtsson, Annie MattssonMathias Persson, Vera Sundin and Marie-Christine Skuncke.

- New article by Thure Stenström published, "Språken, modersmålet och känslan – kommunikation i en globaliserad värld", in the Festschrift Sundelöfs Societet, eds. Mats Almgren, Ulla Birgegård, Kristina Glimelius, Kungl. Vetenskaps-Societeten i Uppsala, Uppsala 2015.

- David Gedin co-organizes the symposium "Tecknade serier - Ett outforskat språk" at The Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities.

- David Gedin is co-editor of Strindbergiana, 30:e samlingen. The volume marks two anniversaries: the 70th anniversary of The Strindberg Society and the 30th anniversary of the journal Strindbergiana.

- Marie-Christine Skuncke is awarded the Letterstedt Prize by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, read press release (in Swedish)!

- Carina Burman is awarded the Eric and Ingrid Lilliehöök's Grant by the Swedish Academy.

- New book published: Early Modern Print Culture in Central Europe, Wroclaw, 2014. Anna-Maria Rimm is co-editor.

- A homage volume to Eva-Britta Ståhl, professor in Literature at the Mid Sweden University, has been published: "Om det man inte kan tala måste man sjunga". Eva-Britta Ståhl took her Doctor's degree in Uppsala 1984, and in the volume many scholars with current or former Uppsala affiliation make contributions, among others Björn Sundberg, Thure Stenström, Bo G. Jansson, Örjan Torell, Svante Lovén and Lars Brink.

April 2015

- New anthology published: Förledd och förtjust: andra generationens retorikvetare tar ordet. Editors are two of the department's PhD students in Rhetoric, Erik Bengtson and Frida Buhre. Alexander Stagnell also contributes to the anthology.

March 2015

- Paula Henrikson is awarded the Schück Prize for 2015 by the the Swedish Academy. Read press release (in Swedish)!

- Janne Lindqvist is guest editor and contributes with an article, and Erik Bengtson contributes with an article, in the new issue (no 68) of Rhetorica Scandinavica. The issue is due beginning of March and its thematic topic is Aristotle's Rhetoric. Publications of Otto Fischer, Patrik Mehrens and Jon Viklund, Peter Lind, and Mats Rosengren are also reviewed.

- New book by professor emeritus Thure Stenström published: Utsikter och insikter. The book is a collection of essays from the last 50 years. The table of content and preface (in Swedish) is available here.

- New anthology published: Hans-Georg Gadamer och hermeneutikens aktualitet. Anders Burman at the department is editor.

- Professor Marie-Christine Skuncke is awarded the Torgny Segerstedt Medal for 2014, see the article (in Swedish) Fem nya medaljörer utsedda.

November 2014

- The book Sverige i tiden: Berättelser från ett levande land is released on November 30, 12:30, at the Swedish History Museum. Author, among others, is Annie Linnéa Mattsson.

- David Gedin gives a lecture, Saturday 29/11, 15:00, at the Strindberg Museum: "En strippad Strindberg".

- Release - Thursday 27/11, 17:00, in Humanistvillan, Stockholm University - of two volumes the 18th International Strindberg Conference 2012 in Stockholm: Arvet efter Strindberg/The Strindberg Legacy, eds. David Gedin, Roland Lysell, Willmar Sauter, Per Stam and Strindberg on International Stages / Strindberg in Translation.

- New book released: Samtalets retorik. Belevade kulturer och offentlig kommunikation i svenskt 1700-tal. Author is Ann Öhrberg.

- New book released: Pedagogikens idéhistoria. Uppfostringsidéer och bildningsideal under 2500 år. Author is Anders Burman.

- New book released: Upplysningskritik. Editor, among others, is Anders Burman.

October 2014

- New book released: Tillsammans. Politik, filosofi och estetik på 1960- och 1970-talen. Editor, among others, is Anders Burman.

- Frida Buhre participates as judge and coach in The Swedish Educational Broadcasting Company's show Retorikmatchen. A series of shows will be broadcasted, starting October 14, by Swedish Public Service Television (Tuesdays at 19:20), and by Swedish Public Service Radio, Channel 4 (Saturdays at 11:33).

September 2014

- New book released: Retorisk kritik. Editors are Otto Fischer, Patrik Mehrens and Jon Viklund.

- New book released: Carl Peter Thunberg, Botanist and Physician: Career-Building across the Oceans in the Eighteenth Century. Author is Marie-Christine Skuncke.

- New book released: "Darum ist die Welt so groß": Raum, Platz und Geographie im Werk Goethes. Co-editor is Mattias Pirholt.
